David Skrzypek

David has 19 continuous years of beekeeping. He began in Sacramento, CA, and continues in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State.

He draws great satisfaction in proliferating the honeybee population, mentoring new beekeepers (just as he was/is mentored), and constantly learning through beekeeping and research. He also enjoys woodworking, creating chicken coops from reclaimed wood, making artisan top bar beehives and other projects.

There's always more to learn. To that end, David has attended workshops in top bar beekeeping, queen-rearing under Sue Cobey at Washington State University at Pullman, and he is currently in the Oregon State University Master Beekeeper program under the mentorship of the highly published Dr. Dewey Caron. When he's not in the shop or in his bee suit, you'll find David surfing.

Bring your questions and your veil if you want to get up close and personal with the resident hives on the farm.

Rain or shine, dress accordingly.

I am a master greednar in Jackson County and I am in charge of programs. One of our master greednars has expressed an interest in learning about beekeeping. Do you have a speakers group or someone who can speak to the Jackson County Master Gardeners in Marianna? If not, do you know of any beekeepers in Jackson County? Thank you. Patsy Hooper –
