Winter Solstice 2020

Monday, December 21, 2020.

The shortest day at 8 hours, 25 minutes and 26 seconds. OR The longest night. Sleep tight. Hold on tight. The sun will stall for a mere moment as it reverses course and begins its journey back to us from the southern hemisphere. Monday evening also brings us the rare planetary alignment of Jupiter and Saturn, visible in the southwest sky if not covered by clouds. Surely this means the world will right itself once again, yes? Light a candle or two or three in your window or on your porch. Down your drive if it is a dry evening. I have been relishing these long evenings at home. Purging and planning for what’s next. What is next? Beyond the growing seconds and minutes of daylight, I do not know. A deep breath in, a deep breath out. A giggle and a lotta love, enthusiasm, grace and curiosity.

And to all a good night…
